Should you hire a wedding videographer?
If you’re engaged and you’re reading this, chances are you’ve realized something that anyone planning a wedding realizes at a certain point: weddings are expensive. Oh boy they are. Naturally, you’ll be looking for places to save. Maybe it’s a bar package or maybe it’s the dress… heck you could even say, “Screw this, let’s elope.” It’s all about what is important to you and your love for how you’d like to mark the occasion of spending the rest of your lives together.
But too many times the wedding video is the first thing to get crossed off the list. And we need to tell you why that maybe isn’t the best idea.
We get why it might seem frivolous. After all, you’re getting pictures, right? Video is just another vendor and something you’re going to post on social media once and then forget about. If you think about it in terms of quantity, it doesn’t seem like the most cost-effective purchase.
Let’s stop right there though. Do an exercise with me. Add up all of the things you are spending money on for your wedding minus the photographer. Visualize that total. (We promise we’re not trying to stress you out.) Now consider the cost of a cinematic storyteller. Is it less than the total? We sure hope so!
Now consider what happens when you watch a really great wedding film. Do you feel anticipation? What was the mood like in the getting ready suite? Can you feel the love coming through the vows? How do you feel when you see that kiss? Are you getting emotional? We hope so.
We’ll tell you why: SOUND!
It’s the voices you heard, the vows you promised, that little gasp you had during the first look… all in an engaging and fun to watch little bundle. You literally get to feel all the feels again. And if you’re anything like us, the thing you’ll be saying the moment your wedding is over is, “I wish we could get married again!”
Paying for another wedding is not ideal. But experiencing it again? The cost of a videographer. So we want you to stop thinking of a wedding film as a video. Because it’s actually time travel. Cool, right?
